THE AREA
South Llanelli as the area is called today, was once the Industrial region of the town. Most of the heavy industry was located in the Seaside, New Dock, and Morfa area.
The Factories also adjoined two Hamlets named Bwlch-y-Gwynt and Machynys and it is to these communities that this site concentrates on.
Although once at the heart of the tin plate production, due to "Progress and Development," these Hamlets no longer exist.
During the Sixties and Seventies the Residence of the area re-located because of proposed Re-Developments and the area lay in waiting all this time, until now.
I used to work in Machynys, and walked my dog over the site of the factory, the houses and the schools that once stood proud, but the area has changed again and it now boasts an executive housing complex and Golf course.
What was there then? .....And what is there now?
Have a look around, See what the area used to look like.
